INDIVIDUAL BREED INFORMATION & DOG BREEDER REFERRALS
When searching for the right breed for you, or if you already know about the breed you want and are looking for that special puppy or young adult, you should contact and interview several breeders and find the one you are most comfortable with. Look for clean conditions and friendly, healthy looking puppies. You should be able to meet at least one parent of the litter and also meet adult dogs on the breeder's premises. Do not forget to inquire about health issues in the particular breed and ask the breeder what they are doing to breed healthier dogs. They should be able to provide proof of genetic health screening of their breeding animals, and a WRITTEN guarantee for health and temperament of the dog.
If you are not able to see the conditions in which the puppies are raised, or meet any of the other dog relatives, politely say good bye and call the next name on your list.
